Summer has had a rough start in life. She came to CDR, at 11 weeks old, very sick with Parvo. After surviving that often fatal disease, she was adopted at about 4 months old to begin what should have been the start of her new, happy life. Five months later, her new family turned her in to a county animal control instead of returning her to CDR as the contract they signed stated. Animal control almost put her to sleep because she was so scared they didn't think she could be put up for adoption. Luckily, CDR was contacted by one of the vets that we use after animal control called them for medical records. We were able to take her from animal control. She has been living at the Alex Brooks Canine Center for the past couple of months learning the behaviors she needs to become a good family member. Summer is now looking for a forever home that will give her the love and attention she deserves. When we contacted Summer's family to find out why she was given up and why she was left at animal control, the husband said he didn't know why she was left at animal control because his wife handled it and he gave a reason for giving her up that completely contradicted the information the wife gave on the 3 page questionnaire she filled out at animal control. A call to the wife for clarification was never returned. If you think you can open up your heart to Summer, come meet her at our Saturday adoption events. |
