Charlie-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

Charlie2BREED: Shiba Inu/Pomerian Mix
SEX: Male
AGE:  1 1/2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Charlie.  I am an energetic Shiba Inu/Pomeranian Mix looking for a new home.  My current Mom got me very soon after losing her last dog and has now realized that I am a boy who would do best in a family that wouldn’t have to leave me for long hours or even someone who is home most of the day!  I am great with people, LOVE KIDS and even cats!  I am completely vetted and neutered.  What more can you ask for?
I was recently evaluated by CDR’s trainers and they noticed that I bark and spin in circles when I see another dog, especially big dogs.  However, during 30 minutes of class, I settled down and went nicely through all the exercises, including downs.  I think training would be great!
Come meet me at the next adoption event and see that I am a very smart, energetic boy with a big personality tucked into a 13 pound body!
XOXOXOXO-
Charlie

Henri profileBREED:  Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 1 1/2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Henri.  I am a Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) who has a beautiful silver coat with gold markings.  Kinda of ritzy for a boy who was found wandering the streets of Humboldt Park!.  The very kind woman who found me took good care of  me until CDR found a great foster home for me.  I have been to the vet, gotten all my shots and been neutered.
I was evaluated by CDR’s trainer with treats and other dogs.  I did great with treats but did initially bark at the other dogs.  I did listen to the corrections and then wanted to play.  Speaking of playing, I love people and am great with kids. I am currently living in a home with other dogs and a cat and we all get along wonderfully! I don't like being in my crate but my foster Mom is working on it with me.
If you are interested in meetingme, your new best friend, please contact CDR by phone or e-mail!
XOXOXO-

Zeus-adoption pending

zeus3BREED: Shepherd/Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 5 years
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Zeus and I’m told I’m the total package! They tell me that I'm a German Shepherd/Lab mix who is five years young (don’t let my grey beard fool you) and am a sweet, gentle soul.  I love everyone and everything. I am house broken and well mannered. I love to go for walks and play with toys. I would make a fantastic addition to a loving family!
I was originally adopted from CDR when I was just a pup.  Recently, my owners decided they did want me anymore, so they dumped me at the Anti-Cruelty Society.  It’s a good thing I was still chipped to CDR and the good folks at ACS called CDR and they came to get me right away!
I do have hypothyroidism and will require medication daily. It's no big deal. I just need to see the vet every six months so they can draw some blood and make sure my medication dosage is good.
I'm hoping to find a loving family that will be as loyal and loving as I promise to be. I just want to be someone's forever dog….
XOXOXO-
Zeus

Julie1BREED: Husky/Shepherd Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Julie but my foster Mom sometimes calls me Jewels because I am a real gem!  I was rescued by CDR from a high kill shelter in Southern Illinois.  How did such a great girl like me end up in a scary place like that?  My owners were forced to give me up after their divorce and the shelter was their only option.  But now I'm in a great foster home with 2 dog friends and a great big back yard.  I walk very well on a leash, am potty trained, have no problem being in the crate and a mere 45 pounds.  I would make a wonderful family dog since I'm good with kids.   Because of all the changes I've been through lately, I follow my foster Mom all over the house and I just want to be loved!
Come see me at the next adoption event or call/e-mail with questions!

Athena-adoption pending

athena1BREED: Rottweiler
SEX: Female
AGE: 4 months
COMMENTS: My name is Athena and I am a 4 month old female Rottweiler puppy. I came to CDR as a breeder release and I am glad I will find a new home soon. I am very playful, I like to chew so please make sure I have only puppy appropriate toys to chew on! – I am also a bit nervous and skittish around new people, but I do love everyone I meet! My foster home has 2 other dogs, 1 big and 1 small, so I am comfortable around dogs of all sizes too. I am a big puppy and I will be a very big, strong girl, so I need a family that will give me a lot of training! CDR provides free training, which is a good thing as I will need it! I am crate trained and I do sleep through the night. I am learning potty training too, so please be patient with me – I am smart and I will catch on quick once I have a daily routine. I need a family that will give me a lot of attention and time. CDR will carefully screen all families applying for me so I can find the perfect fit for me and have the best life ever!
Thank you for reading about me!

Cricket-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

Cricket1BREED: Chihuahua
SEX: Female
AGE: 4 years old
COMMENTS: Hi!!  My name is Cricket.  From my name you can guess that I am not very big.  I have been told that I am about 10 lbs.  I am a sweet, little girl who was found as a stray on the street.   A couple found me and have been trying to find my home, but without success.  They were lucky enough for meet someone who is a friend of CDR and they told her my story.  Now CDR is working to help me find a new home with a great family to love me!
I am living with my new foster mom and her family.  She says that I am a lap dog that likes to play.  She would describe me as sweet, loving, playful and curious.  I get along with the 2 dogs in the house (both under 20 lbs) and also the cat.  The people that found me said that I got along well with their 10 year old son.  My foster mom says that I have not had any accidents in the house so far and I am good staying in the crate.  She also says that I do not bark very much, and when I do, it is not very loud.
If you think that I would be a good new addition to your family, PLEASE contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue.  They want to help me find my forever home.  They say that a cute, sweet little girl like me deserves a good home.  Can you find room in your heart and home for a little furry friend like me???  I sure hope so.

Taz 02-28-15 bioBREED: Rat Terrier/Beagle
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 months
COMMENTS:  Hi, my name is Taz.  My mother and siblings and I came to CDR from a high kill shelter.  We were all adopted out, but my new family has found that one of them is very allergic to me!  I am your typical puppy…well, maybe not typical.  I am a very high energy boy who is going to need an outlet to help me burn it off!!!   I would make a great running partner or a great customer of a doggie daycare.  But I definitely need lots of exercise. Because of my high energy and exercise needs, an apartment or condo is not the best option.  I love everybody but I am a cat chaser and most cats don’t seem to like that.  I do know basic obedience but training can only make me a better companion.
But most of all, I’m a really sweet and affectionate boy looking for a new home!

Jonah

jonah5BREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi.  I'm Jonah.  I was picked up as a stray in Kentucky and then spent 8 months at an animal shelter.  Chicagoland Dog Rescue brought me here to find me a new home.  After I arrived at my foster home, it became obvious that I didn't know how to behave in a home. I am not aggressive at all.  I just didn't have any house manners.  After working with me for a couple of months, CDR decided that I should spend 3 weeks at A Closer Bond in Palatine in a board and train situation.  I learned a lot of new skills at A Closer Bond and now I am back at my foster home.  My foster mom says I need to go to a home where the people are committed to reinforcing my training.  I get along with other dogs, but since I am going to need training reinforcement for awhile, it would probably be best if I was the only dog in the home for now and no small children.  I like to be with people and I like to be active, so I wouldn't do well in a home where I will be left alone and crated all day.  My foster mom thinks I would like being trained for agility, but a nice walk or run would be nice too.  If you would like to meet me, come to CDR's adoption event on Saturday at Petco in Schaumburg from 10:30-2:30.
Hope to see you soon.
Jonah

Tia-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 3 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
