COMMENTS: I am Brodie. I weigh 5.1 pounds; however, I will get bigger…yep I will. My brother, Dexter, is making fun of me because he says I am a big baby for crying at the vet when I got my shots, but those things really hurt. It hurt so bad, I could not even eat the cookies afterwards. I am your typical puppy in I eat, play, go potty, sleep and then do it all over again is a few hours. If you think you might be interested, come and see me…I think you just might fall in love.

Gus

Gus_OEBBREED: English Bulldog
SEX: Male
AGE: 10 months
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Gus.  I am an Old English Bulldog.  I was born 4/20/2014.  My original family got me from a breeder in Georgia.  I love other dogs, people and children.  I have never met a cat, so I am not sure how I would react to them.  They say I am curious, love the snow and watching cars drive by. I get excited meeting new people and jump up but I am only 20 lbs so I don't really hurt anyone.  I am super sweet, and a bit of a ham… When people meet me I always make them smile.  With my wiggly butt and my cute under bite, how could they not love this face!!!!!
Due to some changes in the home, my family, unfortunately, has to give me up.  I am still a pup so I will need a family who will work on my house training and basic commands.  I am an Old English Bulldog, so I also need someone who knows and understands my breed and the care I require.
If you are interested in meeting me or finding out more about me, please contact my new friend Lu Anne, from Chicagoland dog Rescue, at 708/828-8666. She will be happy to answer your questions.
Hope to meet you soon!!!!!
Gus

TobyBREED: West Highland Terrier Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 5-6 years old
COMMENTS: WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS AND INQUIRES FOR TOBY BUT HE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO TO HIS NEW HOME UNTIL 2/28/15 OR AFTER!
Hi, my name is Toby.  I’m not a very big guy, just weighing in around 15 pounds.  I am very sweet and love to lie on the couch and hang out.  I do like to play with toys and sometimes run around like crazy but those times are short lived!  I can play with other dogs but I’m not opposed to entertaining myself.  I can be a little shy at first but within in short time I’m a little cuddle bug with a happy tail! The more I get to know you, the more playful I become.  I’m not really fond of my crate and will bark when I first get in.  I give up pretty quickly when I realize I’m not going to get my way!  My foster Mom thinks I’m a must see kinda guy who will make a great companion for someone.  Could that someone be you?

Valentine

valentine3BREED: Beagle/Dachshund
SEX: Female
AGE: 1-2 years
COMMENTS:  Hi, I am Valentine.  I was at a dog rescue run by an elderly lady who let things get so out of control that she ended up with over 150+ dogs on her property.   The lady did her best, but she did not have enough time for all of us, and some were neglected.  I have had very little human contact, so I am not sure what I am supposed to do. My paperwork says I'm a Beagle/Daschund mix but who really knows!  I'm a medium sized girl, around 35 pounds, who won't be getting any bigger!  Perfect size if I do say so myself….
My sister Willow and I were rescued together and she has already gotten a home. I am currently  in a loving foster home with other dogs, cats and people but I am is still scared of people when I first meet them.  It may take me a few minutes but I do warm up!  I tend to stay in the room where I am placed unless you move me somewhere else.  I have not had any accidents in the house and I am fine with being in my crate for longer periods of time.  Sometimes, when I'm outside, I'm not sure when I'm supposed to go back in unless the other dogs do.  I am looking for a home with a person or people that will understand that it will take time and patience to help me get over my shyness and see what a GREAT dog I am!
XOXOXO-
Valentine

Stormy

stormy2BREED: Bull Terrier/Hound
SEX: Female
AGE: 6 months
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Stormy.  You might be wondering how this cute girl got her name.  It’s because I’m all over the place trying to get all the doggies in my foster home to play with me!  I think everything is a game and that everyone wants to play with me!  This is because I am a 6 month old puppy…and puppies like to play! I weigh about 30 pounds and I shouldn’t grow up to be a very big dog. I love belly rubs and will stop just about anything I am doing for one. I am super friendly to all people I meet but sometimes I get so excited I jump on them. Oops!  I am working on so many new things in my foster home like sit, don’t jump up, stay….. Who knew I needed to know this much stuff to be a good doggie!  My foster Mom says manners will get you a long way in life. She also said my cute face and personality will help too. I am one of the sweetest, friendliest dogs will you’ll ever meet.  Come check me out ASAP… before I am gone…gone like the wind…or maybe a tornado…

Jonah

dog22BREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi.  I'm Jonah.  I was picked up as a stray in Kentucky and then spent 8 months at an animal shelter.  Chicagoland Dog Rescue brought me here to find me a new home.  After I arrived at my foster home, it became obvious that I didn't know how to behave in a home. I am not aggressive at all.  I just didn't have any house manners.  After working with me for a couple of months, CDR decided that I should spend 3 weeks at A Closer Bond in Palatine in a board and train situation.  I learned a lot of new skills at A Closer Bond and now I am back at my foster home.  My foster mom says I need to go to a home where the people are committed to reinforcing my training.  I get along with other dogs, but since I am going to need training reinforcement for awhile, it would probably be best if I was the only dog in the home for now and no small children.  I like to be with people and I like to be active, so I wouldn't do well in a home where I will be left alone and crated all day.  My foster mom thinks I would like being trained for agility, but a nice walk or run would be nice too.  If you would like to meet me, come to CDR's adoption event on Saturday at Petco in Schaumburg from 10:30-2:30.
Hope to see you soon.
Jonah

Ginger (3)

dog42

BREED: Shepherd/Lab Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 1-2 years old
COMMENTS:   Hi, my name is Ginger. I was placed in a shelter after being removed for neglect from my former home.  While I was at the shelter I had 8 beautiful puppies. Our family was split up and 4 babies went to one shelter and the other four came with me to a foster home with CDR (Remi, Bruno, Bubba and Axel).  I am looking for a new home where I never have to feel scared and alone again. There is nothing worse than a noisy place while trying to protect and care for your babies. You do not know who to trust and you hope for the best!  Like every good Momma, I will still worry, but I am hoping that my babies will find the best possible homes.  My foster Mom says I don’t need to worry about my puppies and I finding the right home because she will take care and find just the right place for all of us!   Life should be good from now on!
If you are looking for a large breed dog, I am not it!  While the people that first rescued me believe I have Shepherd and lab in me, they think I have some other things too, partly because of my size.  I am currently on the smaller size of a medium dog, but I need to gain some weight.  I will never be a large doggie unless someone gets real crazy with my feedings. I love being with people, I’m crate trained and a great snuggler!  But most of all, I’m a sweet girl that just wants to be loved.  I would l LOVE to find a new home to start the New Year out right!
                                                                                   Hugs- Ginger

COMMENTS:   Hi, My name is Luckie and I was one lucky dog.  My owner got me as a puppy and has given me a great home but as time has gone by I got to be a big boy and her health has changed.  Now, my dear friend and CDR are trying to help me find a new home for the next part of my journey.  I tried living with a family  that had a puppy and that wasn’t too great.  Puppies are busy and jumpy and just too much for me! I have been passed over time and again for younger dogs or puppies….But I still have a good amount of energy and excellent roomate skills.  I would like to be in a home with just me, the star of the show.  I am housebroken, calm, good with children and full of love.  Do you think you could be that home for me? Luckie smiley

Petey-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

peteyBREED: Chihuahua/Terrier Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 6 years
COMMENTS:  Hello.  My name is Petey.  I had a home that I shared with my family.  Then they needed to find me a new home as the landlord said they could no longer keep me.  Then Chicagoland Dog Rescue said they would find me a good new home.  When I meet new people, it takes me a few minutes to warm up to people, but then I just want to sit with them and let them pet me, and pet me, and pet me.  I am doing well with the dogs and cats in my foster home.
My foster mom says that I am 6 year old, Chihuahua/Terrier mix that is housebroken, crate trained, and an easy to take care of little boy.  I only weigh 14 lbs, but I have long legs so I do look bigger.  My foster mom says that I really enjoy being with my person as I am her little shadow.  I really enjoy being with her (sitting watching TV or following her around the house).  I also enjoy laying (hiding) in my foster mom’s bed—as you can see from one of my pictures. If you think you might be that new home that I have been looking for, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue.  Hope to hear from you soon.
Love, Petey

Tia

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 3 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
