Ryder

newlabBREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 Weeks
COMMENTS:
Ryder is my name and playing is my game. I am a little shy at first and then I become all puppy, wanting to play and run around acting like a fool. I like to eat, play, eat some more, play and then finally its nap time. Hey I have to store up some more energy, so I can do it all over again and again. As with all puppies, I need someone to teach me how to be a good adult doggie, so you will need some time to do daily training with me, so I do not act like one of those ill behaved adult dogs you see on the streets…no one likes those kind of doggies. Heck I do not like those kind of doggies; they scare me. I do come with life time training, so if you are not sure that is ok…CDR will show you. I was found as a stray in a rural community and no one came looking for me. I know with my cute little face…that is hard to believe, but it is the truth. Poor little me all out in that big world all by myself…scary it was. However, now I am in a nice home where someone looks out for me and tells me how a home where I am loved is just a few weeks away…boy I cannot wait!!!! If you are that home, I am waiting…trying really hard not to get too excited.

XOXO… Ryder

Hunter

hunter4BREED: German Shepherd Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS:
My name is Hunter and I’m a gorgeous German Shepherd mix.  I’m almost two years old and I am a great dog!  I was originally was adopted from CDR when I was a pup, but had to be returned because my family was no longer able to care for me. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks at doggie boot camp taking a refresher course on manners.  I am happy to say that I passed with an A+. Yep, I’m pretty much a super star.  I’m currently being boarded at the same facility so I get to spend my days in doggie day camp.  I just love to play with all of my dog buddies. I also love to go on long walks and car rides.

hunter3I’m a big boy so I would be best in a home with older children.  I would also love to have a mellow dog friend to share my new home with.  I would be best with a family that has a little dog experience. We Shepherds are a rather smart bunch and can be a little bit of a challenge at times. Stop by a Saturday adoption event and check me out. I just might be the dog you’ve been dreaming about.

Baxter

baxter5BREED: Terrier Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 6 months
COMMENTS: Hi I am Baxter. I am a little afraid right now with new people. So once I know someone I stay really close to them and like to cuddle. However, fast moving new people scare me a little. Therefore, I am not recommended for those with little kids running around. However, if you are looking for a little cuddle buddy…I am in!!! I like to play and walk…those things are fun. I am dog friendly and love to play with others. I am way more cuter in person then in pictures, so if you think my pictures are cute…you will think I am absolutely the most adorable thing ever in person.

baxter20My favorite thing in the world is a persons lap…yep I am surely a lap dog. I currently weigh about 11.5 pounds, so I should stay under 15 pounds, so I will be a small dog. If I sound perfect to you, email or call because I am little and young we tend to go fast.
XOXOXO-Baxter

Ellie

ellie10BREED: Terrier Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi I am Ellie. The first thing you will notice about me is my bouncy personality. I love everyone and everyone should love me. The second thing you will notice about me is my bad comb over job. I am missing a bunch of hair and I look crazy. The vet says the bad fleas I had made me itch so bad I lost a bunch of my hair and I got an infection. The good news is my hair will come back and until then…I will just have to deal with my bad hair days. I am sure some of you can understand those days.  I  cannot wait for my hair to grow back in because right now I look goofy. I get along with other doggies and I love to be held. However, I like to play too. There is not much I do not like…my hair and the cold. Other then that all is good in the world. My foster Mom says, so far I am quiet, which she says is a good thing. I am looking for new friends and playmates and maybe a cuddle buddy or two…would you like to do these things with me…if so contact the rescue so we can get started on these activities right now…now now now. Yep I like things now…waiting is not my thing either.
PS I like to give kisses…Ellie

Sweet Dee

Sweet Deephoto (15)BREED:  Pit Bull Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 1-2 years old
COMMENTS: Sweet Dee comes to CDR from an out-of-state kill shelter where she patiently waited for 4 months to be rescued.  She’s a 1-2 year old, 45 lb. Pit Bull mix who is incredibly friendly!  She’s all white with a few tan spots and a giant, happy smile. After sitting in a shelter for so long, she craves human attention and affection and needs a home that can give her lots of time and love.  She is good with kids but due to her size and strength, older kids would be best.  She isn’t sure about cats yet; she likes to chase them, so a household without cats would be best.  She’s great on a leash and doesn’t pull, is housebroken and crate trained and is very quiet.  This sweet girl has been through so much, will you be her forever home?

Bob

Bob031314bio Lab/Shepherd Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 4 months
COMMENTS: This is Bob and he is 4 months old. His mom is a Lab/Shepherd mix, but we don’t know about his dad. He came from a high kill shelter in Indiana with his brothers, Cosmo and Mike. Cosmo and Mike have already found forever homes, but Bob is still waiting. Bob likes to do regular puppy stuff like play with toys, cuddle, eat and sleep. Right now he weighs about 20 pounds and will most likely be a medium to large dog when full grown.

Bob is super sweet and will be at our regular Saturday adoptions at the Schaumburg Petco (corner of Golf and Roselle Roads) on Saturday from 10:30 to 2:30.

He is really looking hard for his own forever home!

Mambo

Mambonew1BREED: Chihuahua
SEX: Male
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi—My name is Mambo.  I am 5 years old and about 10 lbs.  I came to CDR because my family’s landlord said they could not have pets anymore.
I have been at my foster mom’s house for a while, and I have adjusted to being there very well. I get along with my foster mom’s dog and the other foster dogs that come to stay for awhile.  I ignore the 3 cats at the house (which my foster mom says is a smart thing to do as they are at least 50% bigger than I am).  My foster mom says that I am housebroken and crate trained (but I really hate being in the crate).  My favorite place in the whole wide world is in my foster mom’s bed under the covers.  I especially love sneaking in her bed when she is asleep (crawling under the covers).
If you think you might like a little boy like me to be your new BEST FRIEND, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue and let them know.  I hope YOU are the right BEST FRIEND for me.

Sam

sam4003BREED:Smooth Coated Collie Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS: I am Super Sam, you know kind of like Super Man. I am goofy and cuddly. I am lovable and all so much fun. I love people and I like them dogs too. I am a large dog, but that just makes more of me to hug and love on. I could stand to lose a few pounds, but then again most us can at this time of the year. Maybe you need to shed a few unwanted pounds, and you and I could be walking partners and force one another to put in the time to lose those extra pounds before swim suit season arrives.

sam2IMG_20131226_182405Its ok if you are in good shape because then you can just encourage me to run around the yard cheering me on, but with swim suit season just around the corner man I gotta get a move on this. People will for sure look at me in a swim suit and just say why oh why? Could you picture me in a swim suit? I bet you can…it would not be pretty would it? No laughing because laughing at others is not nice. I am looking for a new home with nice people who want a big goofy dog that wants to have fun. because boys just wanna have fun…just like the song, but only boys because that song is sexist because boys wanna have fun too!!! Come see me if you like goofy and cute because I am both…
Kisses Super Sam….I need to find my cape.

Tia

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 1 1/2 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Dakota-I will not be at adoptions. Please call or e-mail with inquires!

Breed: Catahoula Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 4 years
Comments:
Hi there humans. My name is Dakota. I am very sad, as I am homeless (kinda). There is this nice lady that lets me live at her house, but it is not the same as having my own home. I love to be very affectionate and get as much

attention as possible, which is hard to do with those other two goof balls here. I had very little affection from the house I came from, so I love to get as much as possible to make up for the lost time. See I lived in the backyard locked in a small fenced in area with my sister and the neighbors complained we barked too much, so animal control came to talk to our owner. The owner said take the dogs we do not want them, so I was an unwanted dog. For the record, my foster mom says I do not bark too much only when I am in my crate for too long or if there is a true reason. She thinks it was either my sister or both of us because we were bored. Since coming here, she says barking is not an issue; I bark at the appropriate times for the most part. Well anyways we went to a shelter where we were given a whole week to find a home or a rescue to take us or we were goners. This is where I know my luck is about to change. The shelter manager got a call from my foster mom about me. She wanted to know if I got along with other dogs and any other info he could give her. Well he said I was potty trained, got along with the three dogs I got to play with at the shelter, was over weight, and seemed pretty friendly. My foster mom said ok and she would have to think about it. See my luck was that I looked like her dog Dakota…and she had to put him to sleep last year and she felt a connection with me because of him. It also didn’t hurt that my name was Dakota too. She called him the next day to arrange for me to come to her house. I like being here and living in a house instead of outside. She takes me on walks, which I love.It is also helping me lose some of the weight. She lets me play with her dogs in the backyard. This is only fun when they are not picking on me. I am the new guy around here and they are not always nice to me. Deep down I think she wanted to keep me, but these two knuckle heads are making it hard for her because she wants the best for me. She thought the best thing for me was her, but since I am getting picked on…maybe not unless I could get her to get rid of one of the other two. She said something about they were here first and I am a foster. I think this could be easily changed, but she says no. She promises me she will find me a great home and in the mean time she will let me camp out at her house.

Other info she thinks could be important about me: Dakota is crate trained, but I am not really sure he needs to be in a crate while I am not home. But with the other dogs in the house, it is best for everyone’s safety. While not living with kids, he seems to really like the neighborhood kids. However, due to him being large and not always staying down like he should, he might do best in a home with kids over 5/6 depending on their sizes. Training: he could use some more manners, but over all he is not too much trouble. He needs to learn to stay off counters and people. On a leash he does not tend to pull much unless he sees a yummy rabbit, bird, etc. Then watch out. However, I am thinking with a few training classes this could be fixed. Other animals: was told by the shelter he does not like cats. I am also thinking rabbits would not be a good idea either, as her has tried very hard to get the ones in the yard but he is very slow compared to them. I have a feeling once you see the big guy you will fall in love. He is very sweet and only seems to want to please others.

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
