Jonah-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

jonah102514bioBREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi.  I'm Jonah.  I was picked up as a stray in Kentucky and then spent 8 months at an animal shelter.  Chicagoland Dog Rescue brought me here to find me a new home.  After I arrived at my foster home, it became obvious that I didn't know how to behave in a home. I am not aggressive at all.  I just didn't have any house manners.  After working with me for a couple of months, CDR decided that I should spend 3 weeks at A Closer Bond in Palatine in a board and train situation.  I learned a lot of new skills at A Closer Bond and now I am back at my foster home.  My foster mom says I need to go to a home where the people are committed to reinforcing my training.  I get along with other dogs, but since I am going to need training reinforcement for awhile, it would probably be best if I was the only dog in the home for now and no small children.  I like to be with people and I like to be active, so I wouldn't do well in a home where I will be left alone and crated all day.  My foster mom thinks I would like being trained for agility, but a nice walk or run would be nice too.  If you would like to meet me, come to CDR's adoption event on Saturday at Petco in Schaumburg from 10:30-2:30.
Hope to see you soon.
Jonah

Ginger (3)

Newginger4BREED: Shepherd/Lab Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 1-2 years old
COMMENTS:   Hi, my name is Ginger. I was placed in a shelter after being removed for neglect from my former home.  While I was at the shelter I had 8 beautiful puppies. Our family was split up and 4 babies went to one shelter and the other four came with me to a foster home with CDR (Remi, Bruno, Bubba and Axel).  I am looking for a new home where I never have to feel scared and alone again. There is nothing worse than a noisy place while trying to protect and care for your babies. You do not know who to trust and you hope for the best!  Like every good Momma, I will still worry, but I am hoping that my babies will find the best possible homes.  My foster Mom says I don’t need to worry about my puppies and I finding the right home because she will take care and find just the right place for all of us!   Life should be good from now on!
If you are looking for a large breed dog, I am not it!  While the people that first rescued me believe I have Shepherd and lab in me, they think I have some other things too, partly because of my size.  I am currently on the smaller size of a medium dog, but I need to gain some weight.  I will never be a large doggie unless someone gets real crazy with my feedings. I love being with people, I’m crate trained and a great snuggler!  But most of all, I’m a sweet girl that just wants to be loved.  I would l LOVE to find a new home to start the New Year out right!
                                                                                   Hugs- Ginger

Annie

annie1BREED: Beagle/Blue Heeler Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 8mo old
COMMENTS: Hi!  My name is Annie and I’m about 8 months old and weigh about 35-40 pounds right now. I'm much smaller in person than I look in my pictures.   I like to play with the other dogs in my foster home!  I just discovered the cats and I like to chase them around the house when they run!
I’m learning to come to my name when I’m called.  My foster parents think I’m a very curious little girl.  I enjoy chewing on my toys and I don’t mind being in the crate.  I’m almost housebroken, too!  I have learned to run to the back door but sometimes I just don’t make it outside quick enough.  But I’m getting better!
If you think I would be a good fit in your family, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue as soon as possible!  I’m a sweet like girl that deserves a  great new home!
XOXOXO-
Annie

Luckie-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

Luckie & Santa001BREED: Pit Bull Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 years old
COMMENTS: I've been a Good Boy and I asked Santa for a 'furever' home, but Santa ran out before he could get to me!  Can you make my wish come true?  Hi, My name is Luckie and I was one lucky dog.  My owner got me as a puppy and has given me a great home but as time has gone by I got to be a big boy and her health has changed.  Now, my dear friend and CDR are trying to help me find a new home for the next part of my journey.  I tried living with a family  that had a puppy and that wasn’t too great.  Puppies are busy and jumpy and just too much for me! I have been passed over time and again for younger dogs or puppies….But I still have a good amount of energy and excellent roomate skills.  I would like to be in a home with just me, the star of the show.  I am housebroken, calm, good with children and full of love.  Do you think you could be that home for me? Luckie smiley

Bella (3)-adoption pending

Bella(3)1BREED:  Shiba Inu/Cocker Spaniel Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Bella.  I am a 5 year old and 24 pounds.  I am a very healthy girl and up to date on my shots. I have lived with my family since I was a puppy.  My owners think I’m a great dog, have passed my obedience training, don’t mind being crated and I’m housebroken!  The vet and the dog groomer are my friends!  I love riding in the car, playing ball and will need a daily walk! I live in a house with another dog and a cat and I get along fine with them.  I even like the other dogs I meet on walks.
I have lived with a boy since he was five and I was a puppy.  I never had any problems with him.  My owners noticed later that I was unsure of small children when we met them on our outings.  Since then, my family has had a new baby and I get VERY anxious when the baby cries!  My family has worked with an in home trainer and the trainer thinks a home with children 10 years old and up would be best for me.  My family is heartbroken but for the safety of the new baby , I will need to find a new home. Come see me at adoptions to see if you could be my new family!
XOXOXOXO-Bella

Petey-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

peteyBREED: Chihuahua/Terrier Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 6 years
COMMENTS:  Hello.  My name is Petey.  I had a home that I shared with my family.  Then they needed to find me a new home as the landlord said they could no longer keep me.  Then Chicagoland Dog Rescue said they would find me a good new home.  When I meet new people, it takes me a few minutes to warm up to people, but then I just want to sit with them and let them pet me, and pet me, and pet me.  I am doing well with the dogs and cats in my foster home.
My foster mom says that I am 6 year old, Chihuahua/Terrier mix that is housebroken, crate trained, and an easy to take care of little boy.  I only weigh 14 lbs, but I have long legs so I do look bigger.  My foster mom says that I really enjoy being with my person as I am her little shadow.  I really enjoy being with her (sitting watching TV or following her around the house).  I also enjoy laying (hiding) in my foster mom’s bed—as you can see from one of my pictures. If you think you might be that new home that I have been looking for, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue.  Hope to hear from you soon.
Love, Petey

Rambler-adoption pending

newrambler3BREED: Yellow Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 1 1/2-2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Rambler.  I came to CDR from a high kill shelter that was very stressful and made me very sad.  I’m in a foster home now, with 3 other dogs, while looking for a new family of my own. I really love to lie on the couch and snuggle with my foster parents.  If you throw in a nice belly rub…I’m in heaven!  I have had some training, am crate trained, and am housebroken.  I know you will see that I am the happiest boy ever even though I don’t have a long tail to show it.  No tail, just a cute, little patch of hair that looks like a tail. I have lots of energy and love to run in the yard if it’s not too cold out.  I also love people and other dogs (if they can put up with my energy) and hope I can find a great new family soon!
Hugs-Rambler

Tia-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 1 1/2 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
