Batman

BatmanSittingBREED: Spaniel/ Pit Bull Mix
AGE: 8 months
SEX : Male
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Batman.  If you look closely at my ears, I think you'll see how I got my name! I was found as a stray at 4 months old and lived at a shelter in downstate Illinois until I was 8 months and Chicagoland Dog Rescue saved me.  I was a staff favorite because I got along so well with other dogs and people. One of my favorite things is to be held and at the end of the day, be a couch potato right next to my person. I also love a good chew on a Nyla bone.
Even though I was a staff favorite in the shelter, there were a lot of other dogs that needed time and attention so I haven't a chance to work on my manners.  I tend to be kinda jumpy so a home with small children wouldn't work.  I am very energetic and strong and love a good run around the yard with my foster sister and brother.  Because I was lost at such a young age, I can be mouthy but I'm working on that too.
I do well in the crate when my foster Mom goes to work during the day.  I seem to be potty trained and let her know that I need to go out by crying or go by the door.
While helping me change my puppy ways may take some work, I will give you unconditional love in return!
XOXOXOXO-Batman

Bree-adoption pending

bree2BREED: Lab/Spaniel Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 1 year
COMMENTS: Hi, I am Bree and I am about a year old. I am a medium size girl who just loves to play and be loved on. I am currently a little underweight, but I do enjoy my food so I am sure I will not stay as petite as I am.  I like to play with my canine friends, people and I can also entertain myself. I love to go on walks to meet new people. I am a submissive dog, so sometimes I will meet people or other dogs by laying down or rolling over exposing my belly…I just do that thinking that maybe someone will get a clue and rub my belly, as I love my belly rubbed. Sometimes I will jump up to greet people, so some training is in order there, as my foster home says that is a no no. I just get excited and they are not paying attention to me the way they should. So far my foster home has not found a thing I do not like except for to be caged when others are free because that is just not fair!!! My foster Mom says I am a very good looking dog and that my pictures cannot possibly do my personality or my true looks justice. She says I am a must see kind of dog…she said to say this because once you see me you will want me. Come and see me soon to make me even happier by giving me a new home…and tons of love…I love to be loved and will give you tons of love back.
Kisses Bree…I give them to all

Valentine

valentine3BREED: Beagle/Dachshund
SEX: Female
AGE: 1-2 years
COMMENTS:  Hi, I am Valentine.  I was at a dog rescue run by an elderly lady who let things get so out of control that she ended up with over 150+ dogs on her property.   The lady did her best, but she did not have enough time for all of us, and some were neglected.  I have had very little human contact, so I am not sure what I am supposed to do. My paperwork says I'm a Beagle/Daschund mix but who really knows!  I'm a medium sized girl, around 35 pounds, who won't be getting any bigger!  Perfect size if I do say so myself….
My sister Willow and I were rescued together and she has already gotten a home. I am currently  in a loving foster home with other dogs, cats and people but I am is still scared of people when I first meet them.  It may take me a few minutes but I do warm up!  I tend to stay in the room where I am placed unless you move me somewhere else.  I have not had any accidents in the house and I am fine with being in my crate for longer periods of time.  Sometimes, when I'm outside, I'm not sure when I'm supposed to go back in unless the other dogs do.  I am looking for a home with a person or people that will understand that it will take time and patience to help me get over my shyness and see what a GREAT dog I am!
XOXOXO-
Valentine

Jonah

dog22BREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi.  I'm Jonah.  I was picked up as a stray in Kentucky and then spent 8 months at an animal shelter.  Chicagoland Dog Rescue brought me here to find me a new home.  After I arrived at my foster home, it became obvious that I didn't know how to behave in a home. I am not aggressive at all.  I just didn't have any house manners.  After working with me for a couple of months, CDR decided that I should spend 3 weeks at A Closer Bond in Palatine in a board and train situation.  I learned a lot of new skills at A Closer Bond and now I am back at my foster home.  My foster mom says I need to go to a home where the people are committed to reinforcing my training.  I get along with other dogs, but since I am going to need training reinforcement for awhile, it would probably be best if I was the only dog in the home for now and no small children.  I like to be with people and I like to be active, so I wouldn't do well in a home where I will be left alone and crated all day.  My foster mom thinks I would like being trained for agility, but a nice walk or run would be nice too.  If you would like to meet me, come to CDR's adoption event on Saturday at Petco in Schaumburg from 10:30-2:30.
Hope to see you soon.
Jonah

Petey

peteyBREED: Chihuahua/Terrier Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 6 years
COMMENTS:  Hello.  My name is Petey.  I had a home that I shared with my family.  Then they needed to find me a new home as the landlord said they could no longer keep me.  Then Chicagoland Dog Rescue said they would find me a good new home.  When I meet new people, it takes me a few minutes to warm up to people, but then I just want to sit with them and let them pet me, and pet me, and pet me.  I am doing well with the dogs and cats in my foster home.
My foster mom says that I am 6 year old, Chihuahua/Terrier mix that is housebroken, crate trained, and an easy to take care of little boy.  I only weigh 14 lbs, but I have long legs so I do look bigger.  My foster mom says that I really enjoy being with my person as I am her little shadow.  I really enjoy being with her (sitting watching TV or following her around the house).  I also enjoy laying (hiding) in my foster mom’s bed—as you can see from one of my pictures. If you think you might be that new home that I have been looking for, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue.  Hope to hear from you soon.
Love, Petey

Tia

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 3 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
