Tucker

Tucker and SofiaBREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 months old
COMMENTS: Hey there – I’m Tucker and I’m just about the cutest guy you’ve ever met.  I’m 9 months old and so far Chicagoland Dog Rescue is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me!  They saved me from a shelter in Southern Illinois where rumor has it my time was almost up!  I’m loving life at my new foster home.  I love to run and play in the yard or just lay around on my foster mom’s feet while she gets work done!  There is a cute little toddler here and we are becoming best friends, sometimes she pulls my tail or hugs me really tight but I don’t mind at all.  I just give her sweet little kisses.  My foster Mom says it’s really good that I know to keep my mouth closed around the little kids and to not jump up on them, but sometimes when I’m really excited I try to jump up and give the big people kisses.  I definitely know what “sit”, “down” and “off” mean…but I’m just a puppy so sometimes I forget for just a second.  I do pretty well on a leash and my foster mom thinks I’m crate trained and house trained (no accidents yet)!  So, if you are looking for a new friend to have lots of fun with, I’m your guy!!!  Come meet me at adoptions!

COMMENTS:  Hi, My name is Guinness and I am a BIG puppy.  I am only 4 months old and already weigh 31 pounds.  I thinks this means I will be a large dog when I grow up!
For now, I am a very sweet boy who loves my foster brother and the wonderful people I am living with.  Even though I am a young boy, I am already housebroken and crate trained.  What I'm missing now is my own forever family!  Fingers crossed that they will find me soon!

Mac

Mac071214bio3BREED: Shepherd Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 3 years old
COMMENTS: This handsome dude is Mac.  He was given up to an animal shelter in Jeffersonville, Ind. when his owner was deployed and had nobody to take care of him.  The man had tears streaming down his face when he dropped Mac off and it looks like he had taken very good care of him.  Mac was scheduled to be euthanized.  Owner give-ups are the first to go when the shelters are full.  CDR didn't think Mac deserved a death sentence when his owner was off serving our country, so we brought him in.  We had hoped that we could keep Mac while his owner was deployed and then return him, but too many roadblocks prevented that from happening.  So, now we are looking for a nice home for Mac.
He is a shepherd mix, about 3 years old and 67 pounds.  He could stand to put on about 5 pounds.  He is a very nice dog.  He gets along with other dogs and is interested in, but doesn't chase the cats in his foster home.  He is housebroken and knows basic commands.  He likes to play and will make someone a great companion.  Come meet him at our adoption event Saturday.

Coming Soon-Puppies!(updated pictures 7/16)

lilyandabbynewpuppiesHi, my name is Lily and boy, has it been an exciting month. First off I gave birth. I have 3 beautiful girls and one handsome little boy. Their names are Taz, Mia, Izzy and Abby. Just 5 days after giving birth my owner took me to a kill shelter…how sad. The shelter took very good care of my babies and I, while they looked for a rescue to help out my family. I was lucky because one was found pretty quickly. When my kids were about 2 weeks old we traveled from Ky to Il to a foster home. I am loved on every day and so are my puppies. I am safe and so are they. I know what to expect from day to day. I am very busy these days helping my foster mom by taking good care of my kids. I feed them and they are plump little ones. Then I  clean up after them. Both of these activities are never ending, but I want my foster mom to love me and so I try really hard to be a good girl. I allow others to touch the puppies with no issues, but I watch cautiously just in case. I will be spending the next month or so attending to my babies, but then I will get to look for a new home…yippy. Hopefully that home will be less stressful then raising 4 babies. I could use some peace and quiet. I love to cuddle and spend time with people. I also like to take walks….maybe that is because my kids cannot go with. Check back often as there will be updates on the babies and me. I do have some great looking kids!

Oliver-adoption pending

oliver070514BREED: Border Collie Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 6-8 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Oliver and I came to Chicagoland Dog Rescue from a high kill shelter in Kentucky.  It was a scary time but boy am I glad to have a chance at finding a forever home now!  I am a Border Collie Mix and appear to be between 6 and 8 years old.  I like the three other dogs in my foster home but I REALLY like the person there the best!  I'm a pretty laid back guy that loves to hang out the yard and go for walks.  My foster Mom thinks I'm very sweet and the kids next door love to pet me!  If you're in the market for a new friend,I think I'm him!

Luckie040514bioBREED: Pit Bull Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 8 1/2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, My name is Luckie and I was one lucky dog.  My owner got me as a puppy and has given me a great home but as time has gone by I got to be a big boy and her health has changed.  Now, my dear friend and CDR are trying to help me find a new home for the next part of my journey.  I tried living with a family  that had a puppy and that wasn’t too great.  Puppies are busy and jumpy and just too much for me!  I would like to be in a home with just me or older dogs.   I am housebroken, calm, good with children and full of love.  Do you think you could be that home for me? :) Luckie

Hunter

hunter4BREED: German Shepherd Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS:
My name is Hunter and I'm a gorgeous German Shepherd mix.  I'm almost two years old and I am a great dog!  I was originally was adopted from CDR when I was a pup, but had to be returned because my family was no longer able to care for me. I've spent the last couple of weeks at doggie boot camp taking a refresher course on manners.  I am happy to say that I passed with an A+. Yep, I'm pretty much a super star.  I'm currently being boarded at the same facility so I get to spend my days in doggie day camp.  I just love to play with all of my dog buddies. I also love to go on long walks and car rides.

hunter3I'm a big boy so I would be best in a home with older children.  I would also love to have a mellow dog friend to share my new home with.  I would be best with a family that has a little dog experience. We Shepherds are a rather smart bunch and can be a little bit of a challenge at times. Stop by a Saturday adoption event and check me out. I just might be the dog you've been dreaming about.

Mambo-I won’t be at adoption events. Please call or e-mail for information!

Mambonew1BREED: Chihuahua
SEX: Male
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi—My name is Mambo.  I am 5 years old and about 10 lbs.  I came to CDR because my family’s landlord said they could not have pets anymore.
I have been at my foster mom’s house for a while, and I have adjusted to being there very well. I get along with my foster mom’s dog and the other foster dogs that come to stay for awhile.  I ignore the 3 cats at the house (which my foster mom says is a smart thing to do as they are at least 50% bigger than I am).  My foster mom says that I am housebroken and crate trained (but I really hate being in the crate).  My favorite place in the whole wide world is in my foster mom’s bed under the covers.  I especially love sneaking in her bed when she is asleep (crawling under the covers).
If you think you might like a little boy like me to be your new BEST FRIEND, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue and let them know.  I hope YOU are the right BEST FRIEND for me.

Tia

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 1 1/2 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
