Herbie

herbie3BREED:  Lhasa Apso
SEX: Male
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Herbie.  I am looking for a new home because I was used as a breeding dog and dumped when they were done with me.  When I came to CDR, I was in some pretty rough shape.  With a good grooming I have turned into a most handsome boy!  I am very people and dog friendly and can’t wait to find my new home.  I ‘m looking forward to some great snuggle time!

Rambler

rambler4BREED: Yellow Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 1-2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Rambler.  I came to CDR from a high shelter that was very stressful and made me very sad…I’m in a foster home now while looking for a new family of my own. I really love to lay in the sun and if you throw in a nice belly rub…I’m in heaven!  I know you will see that I am the happiest boy ever even though I don’t have a long tail to show it.  No tail, just a cute, little nub.   I love people and other dogs and hope I can find a great new family quick!

Daisy

daisy3BREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 5 years old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Daisy and I came to Chicagoland Dog Rescue from a high kill shelter in Indiana.  I'm so glad they rescued me because I'm a very well-behaved girl and would be a great addition to your family!  Weighing about 45 lbs I'm small for a lab so I'm probably mixed with something else.  I must've had an owner at some point because I'm housebroken, crate-trained, and know how to sit.  Being 5 years old, I'm a calm, quiet, and sweet girl!  I get along with other dogs, cats, and kids. If you're interested please fill out an application online or come meet me at adoptions this Saturday from 10:30-2:30 at Petco in Schaumburg.  Hope to see you soon! Daisy

Casper-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

casper1BREED: Dachshund Mix
SEX: Male
AGE:5-6 months
COMMENTS: When Casper first came to stay with his foster family, he was a little scared but it took him about 20 minutes to start running in the yard and when he met the other dogs including his brother Rufus he was a little shy but after a day he plays like he was always with them.  He is great around the other dogs and the foster family has not seen any issues with the 2 cat.  He doesn't bother them at all.
Casper does bark for a bit at night when he is put in his crate for the evening but then settles in for the night.  He is very quiet when meeting new people and warms up quickly.  He has only been at his foster home for a day but he us very good about bathrooming outside and not making any messes inside the house or in his crate.
He is a great dog just like his brother and once you see him in person you will just love him.
He is just a very happy little dog. Casper follows his people everywhere and is getting better about not being right under foot, I think he would be a perfect family member for some lucky family!

Jesse

Jesse081614bio4BREED: Retriever/Border Collie Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 weeks
COMMENTS:Hi, I'm Jesse.  My siblings and I were left in a box at the door of a high-kill shelter in Kentucky when we were just 6 weeks old.  Luckily for us, Chicagoland Dog Rescue said they would take us and find us homes.  Nobody really knows what breed we are.  The shelter in Kentucky thought we were border collie mixes, probably because Jasmine has white markings and one blue eye.  Other people think we are retriever mixes.  Whatever we are, we are very cute.  We only weigh 6-7 pounds now, but we will get bigger.  How much bigger is anybody's guess.  We are pretty typical puppies.  We like to eat, play and get lots of attention.  Our foster mom says anybody wanting to adopt a puppy should understand how much work is involved.  She said if you come see us at adoptions, ask for our handout called "So you think you are ready to adopt a puppy".  We will be at the CDR adoption event Saturday from 10:30 – 2:30 if you would like to meet us.  Please fill out an application online if you are interested in adopting us.   Hope to see you Saturday.
XOXO,
Jesse

Jack-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

jack2BREED: American Eskimo
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 years old
COMMENTS: Hi.  My name is Jack.  I came to Chicagoland Dog Rescue because my family could no longer keep me.  My owner remarried, and I no longer fit in the mix of the new family.  I am 9 years old, 21 lbs., miniature American Eskimo.  I get along with other dogs and so far at my new foster mom’s house I have not reacted to the cats.  I am housebroken and crate trained.  I enjoy being outside, but I need some training going for walks (I like to bark at cars, bikes, and skateboards).  I know sit, down, and stay commands.  I love to cuddle with my friends as they are watching TV. I would do best in a home without little children, as they just move too fast for me.   When being introduced to new people,  I need to be introduced slowly as I do get a little scared of new people.  But once we are friends, we are GOOD FRIENDS.  If you think you would be a good home for me, please contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue.
I am really looking forward to meeting you.

bella1BREED: Chihuahua/ Rat Terrier Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 6 years old
COMMENTS:  Hi, my name is Bella.  I’m a small girl weighing in at about 12lbs and  I’m six years old.  I find myself  in the unfortunate position of having to find a new home as my owner is older with medical issues  and  is  no longer able to care for me.  I am house broken but will use a puppy pad  as  my owner is no longer able to take me out due to her mobility issues. I’m a little shy at first but once I  warm up, I will be your BEST FRIEND! I get along well with other dogs, especially since I have lived with another dog  most of my life.  I have lived in apartment up to now.  I do have good leash manners and  really enjoy a nice walk. If you are interested in a sweet girl like me, please email or call Chicagoland Dog Rescue.
I’ll be waiting! XOXOXO-Bella

tasha3BREED: Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier Mix
SEX: Female
AGE: 3 1/2 years old
COMMENTS:  Hi, my name is Tasha and I’m looking for a new home.  I ‘m only 3 ½ years old and weigh about 12 lbs.  After my first owner passed away, a very nice lady  adopted  me.  Unfortunately, my new owner has gotten older and developed  many medical issues and is no longer able to care for me.  I am housebroken but have learned to use a puppy pad as my owner  is unable to take me outside due to her mobility issues. I’m good with other dogs and just recently met a cat.  I’m told I behaved very well!  I am a little shy and will need a person who is willing to let me warm up to them and not try to force me. I walk well on a leash and really enjoy a nice walk.  Furry toys are some of my favorite things!
If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet, shy little girl….I”M HER!  Please email or call Chicagoland Dog Rescue for more information.  I’ll be waiting!
XOXOXO-Tasha

COMMENTS: Hi, My name is Luckie and I was one lucky dog.  My owner got me as a puppy and has given me a great home but as time has gone by I got to be a big boy and her health has changed.  Now, my dear friend and CDR are trying to help me find a new home for the next part of my journey.  I tried living with a family  that had a puppy and that wasn’t too great.  Puppies are busy and jumpy and just too much for me!  I would like to be in a home with just me or older dogs.   I am housebroken, calm, good with children and full of love.  Do you think you could be that home for me? :) Luckie

Tia-I won’t be at adoptions this week! Please call or e-mail with questions!

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 1 1/2 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
