Missy-adoption pending

MissyBREED: Black Lab
SEX: Female
AGE: 1 year old
COMMENTS: Hi, my name is Missy.  I am a BEAUTIFUL  black lab with the thickest, softest fur around.  I was extremely lucky that CDR found me at a high kill shelter where my number was almost up.  Now I am in a foster home with two other dogs who are my best friends.  My foster sister and I play as much as possible, and I LOVE it!  I can be a high energy girl but I can also be a cuddle bug!
I am crate trained, housebroken and a love to be around.  Because I'm young and haven't had much training, I would do best in a home with older children.  I am looking for a family who will help me reach my potential as a great dog with care and most importantly, training.
Come meet me at the next adoption event and be prepared to fall in love!
OXOXOXOXOXO
Missy

Cricket

Cricket1BREED: Chihuahua
SEX: Female
AGE: 4 years old
COMMENTS: Hi!!  My name is Cricket.  From my name you can guess that I am not very big.  I have been told that I am about 10 lbs.  I am a sweet, little girl who was found as a stray on the street.   A couple found me and have been trying to find my home, but without success.  They were lucky enough for meet someone who is a friend of CDR and they told her my story.  Now CDR is working to help me find a new home with a great family to love me!
I am living with my new foster mom and her family.  She says that I am a lap dog that likes to play.  She would describe me as sweet, loving, playful and curious.  I get along with the 2 dogs in the house (both under 20 lbs) and also the cat.  The people that found me said that I got along well with their 10 year old son.  My foster mom says that I have not had any accidents in the house so far and I am good staying in the crate.  She also says that I do not bark very much, and when I do, it is not very loud.
If you think that I would be a good new addition to your family, PLEASE contact Chicagoland Dog Rescue.  They want to help me find my forever home.  They say that a cute, sweet little girl like me deserves a good home.  Can you find room in your heart and home for a little furry friend like me???  I sure hope so.
XOXOXOXOXOXO

Taz

Taz 02-28-15 bioBREED: Rat Terrier/Beagle
SEX: Male
AGE: 9 months
COMMENTS:  Hi, my name is Taz.  My mother and siblings and I came to CDR from a high kill shelter.  We were all adopted out, but my new family has found that one of them is very allergic to me!  I am your typical puppy…well, maybe not typical.  I am a very high energy boy who is going to need an outlet to help me burn it off!!!   I would make a great running partner or a great customer of a doggie daycare.  But I definitely need lots of exercise. Because of my high energy and exercise needs, an apartment or condo is not the best option.  I love everybody but I am a cat chaser and most cats don’t seem to like that.  I do know basic obedience but training can only make me a better companion.
But most of all, I’m a really sweet and affectionate boy looking for a new home!

Valentine-adoption pending

valentine3BREED: Beagle/Dachshund
SEX: Female
AGE: 1-2 years
COMMENTS:  Hi, I am Valentine.  I was at a dog rescue run by an elderly lady who let things get so out of control that she ended up with over 150+ dogs on her property.   The lady did her best, but she did not have enough time for all of us, and some were neglected.  I have had very little human contact, so I am not sure what I am supposed to do. My paperwork says I'm a Beagle/Daschund mix but who really knows!  I'm a medium sized girl, around 35 pounds, who won't be getting any bigger!  Perfect size if I do say so myself….
My sister Willow and I were rescued together and she has already gotten a home. I am currently  in a loving foster home with other dogs, cats and people but I am is still scared of people when I first meet them.  It may take me a few minutes but I do warm up!  I tend to stay in the room where I am placed unless you move me somewhere else.  I have not had any accidents in the house and I am fine with being in my crate for longer periods of time.  Sometimes, when I'm outside, I'm not sure when I'm supposed to go back in unless the other dogs do.  I am looking for a home with a person or people that will understand that it will take time and patience to help me get over my shyness and see what a GREAT dog I am!
XOXOXO-
Valentine

Jonah

jonah5BREED: Lab Mix
SEX: Male
AGE: 2 years old
COMMENTS: Hi.  I'm Jonah.  I was picked up as a stray in Kentucky and then spent 8 months at an animal shelter.  Chicagoland Dog Rescue brought me here to find me a new home.  After I arrived at my foster home, it became obvious that I didn't know how to behave in a home. I am not aggressive at all.  I just didn't have any house manners.  After working with me for a couple of months, CDR decided that I should spend 3 weeks at A Closer Bond in Palatine in a board and train situation.  I learned a lot of new skills at A Closer Bond and now I am back at my foster home.  My foster mom says I need to go to a home where the people are committed to reinforcing my training.  I get along with other dogs, but since I am going to need training reinforcement for awhile, it would probably be best if I was the only dog in the home for now and no small children.  I like to be with people and I like to be active, so I wouldn't do well in a home where I will be left alone and crated all day.  My foster mom thinks I would like being trained for agility, but a nice walk or run would be nice too.  If you would like to meet me, come to CDR's adoption event on Saturday at Petco in Schaumburg from 10:30-2:30.
Hope to see you soon.
Jonah

Tia

Tiapuggle100BREED: Puggle
SEX: Female
AGE: 3 years
COMMENTS:

I am Tia and I love everything or at least everything I have seen so far. Children make my tail go really fast because I want to play with them. However, I need to be placed in a home with older children because I need to know boundaries and younger children cannot tell me what those are. This does not mean that I cannot be around little kids. It just means on a daily basis it would not be a good idea because I will learn to take advantage of them and get my way, which goes against my training.  I like doggies too and I have been in daycare with other doggies of all shapes and sizes. I love attention…kind of a hog that way.

tia2puggle101Did you know a large fenced in area is a ton of fun to zoom around in…love that ALOT!!!! However, I do not need one, but it would be nice. I have had some very specific training and you can take a class or two to learn how to continue this at your house. I can sit, lay down, stay, heal and I understand no. This does not mean I always listen though. I slip up every now and then and forget when I get excited. I am very friendly and just love any attention that one gives to me. I love toys too. See I love everything…life is so much fun.
Hugs Tia

Lloyd-I won’t be at adoptions. Please e-mail or call with inquiries!

LOOKING FOR: FOSTER/FUR-EVER HOME

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
Sex: Male
Age: 1-3 years
Comments:  Sponsored by RJW Transport
***No small kids, As only pet***

Hi. My name is Lloyd and I am a recovering nipper. From the time I was just a pup, all the humans I knew didn’t treat me very nicely and the only way I could defend myself was to nip at them. I meant them no harm, but I didn’t want them to hurt me anymore, either.

Then the CDR (Chicagoland Dog Rescue) folks took me in.  They figured out super fast that I am really smart, full of energy, a great student and a hard worker.  They placed me with a trainer who specializes in cases like mine, and he brags about what great progress I’ve made.

According to him, I am a Rottweiler mix, about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 55 pounds. My ideal home would be with someone who has experience with a high-energy dog who’s still working on getting his trust and confidence back to where they should be.

It would be great if I could be the only dog in the house, ‘cause that way my master and I could work really hard together to make CDR and my trainer even more proud of me!
