BREED: Pit Bull Mix
AGE: 18 months-2 years
Bio: Hi, my name is Misty. I am a BEAUTIFUL girl with the most amazing coat! When I was first rescued, my fur was dirty, dull and full of dander. After a good bath and lots of good food, my coat is shiny, healthy and oh so velvety. When you first look at me, you might think I am a black and white dog but the truth is there is a beautiful chocolate undertone that sparkles in the sun. When CDR rescued me, I was 10 pounds underweight and that was after 20 days of regular food at the shelter. Since then, I have gained 8 pounds and look great! You can still see my ribs just a little bit but I am a lean, athletic type of girl!
At one time, I was an adorable puppy that grew into a young dog that was neglected and not given any kind of training. When I came to my foster home I was afraid of people and new experiences but in a short time, I have grown to be a more confident girl who is a VERY quick learner! I have mastered sit, down, wait and that pottying is done outside. I give consistent eye contact and wait to be freed to eat my food or retrieve the treat. I love my foster fur brother but am very happy to steal his favorite ball and play keep away with it. I am VERY comfortable with other dogs but some of them aren’t so fond of my in your face greeting! I would do well in a home that can provide me lots of physical activity. My foster family has a varied schedule, so I get a fair amount of exercise now and would do best in a home with a fenced yard for exploring. My human foster brother has even taught me how to run on the treadmill for days when the weather is uncooperative! I recently took a “NOSE WORK” class and did very well at it and am going back for more!
I am still unsure of people and what their intentions are, especially when I am on a leash, so a person/family that understands that is a must for me! I would do best in a home without small children and someone who is a runner, walker, or hiker would be great!
If you are interested in meeting me, please send an email or fill out a pre application and my foster Mom will get back to you just as quick as she can!

Chicagoland Dog Rescue Dogs
Our trained volunteers will determine which home among all applicants is the best fit for the dog, and the dog will be brought back to complete the adoption paperwork. Our adoption fee is $300 for adult dogs aged 7 months and up and $375 for puppies. The fee covers the cost of all medical care including all legally required inoculations, a fecal test and deworming (if required), spaying or neutering, and a microchip. Lifetime training is also included.
All our dogs have all legally required preventative inoculations, are microchipped and are spayed or neutered to control the repetitive birth cycle that produces more unwanted dogs. Most have been rescued from kill shelters in the Midwest, so their exact breed and age is often unknown. All dogs have been medically or emotionally rehabilitated as needed and are temperament tested to assess their fit with other dogs, cats and children.
Chicagoland Dog Rescue reserves the right to restrict adoption of a dog to potential adopters who live within a fifty (50) mile radius of Schaumburg, IL
Weekly socialization and basic obedience training is offered to all adopters FREE OF CHARGE for the lifetime of the dog, something no other group offers! Training is crucial for happy dogs and ensures that our adopted dogs remain in their happy households forever. A minimum of 4 training sessions is required for all adopted dogs.
Details on our training program can be found here.
