BIO: Hi, I’m Dusty and my foster mom says I am one sweet but quirky guy! I was picked up as a stray and scared of just about EVERYTHING when I came to CDR. It was obvious that I had never spent much time in a house before. Since then, I’ve made huge strides building my confidence and I’m learning to be part of the pack. I’m about the cutest thing you’ll ever see: foster mom says I look a little like Dobby the house elf from Harry Potter ( but more handsome). I may be part kangaroo, as I tend to get the zoomies and leap around. I also like to stand up on my back legs see what’s going on. I am incredibly submissive when people first approach, but I truly love them all- big and small! I bond very closely with people, and I’m definitely anxious when I can’t be with them. I would do best in a family where I don’t need to be left alone for more than a couple hours at a time. To help with that, I have been working hard on crate training! I eat in my crate twice a day, will sleep there overnight, and can be crated for a few hours while my people are away. Another dog in the house will be a must for me: the more playful, the better! My Fosters have been working hard on potty training with me, but I just haven’t quite figured it out yet. But don’t fear, they will send my doggie diaper / belly band with me to my new home! If you have the kindness and patience to continue helping me settle into home life, I promise to reward you with unlimited love and gratitude. I’ve already made such amazing progress becoming the dog I was meant to be, I just need the right adopters to finish helping me bloom! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can!

Start The Adoption Process Today

Begin by filling out an adoption application and we start pairing you with your perfect pooch!

Chicagoland Dog Rescue Dogs

Our trained volunteers will determine which home among all applicants is the best fit for the dog, and the dog will be brought back to complete the adoption paperwork.  Our adoption fee is $400-450 for puppies 7 months and up and dogs.  The fee covers the cost of all medical care including all legally required inoculations, a fecal test and deworming (if required), spaying or neutering, and a microchip. Lifetime training is also included.

***** All breeds listed are a best guess or based on information from our rescue partners and are not guaranteed*****

All our dogs have all legally required preventative inoculations, are microchipped and are spayed or neutered to control the repetitive birth cycle that produces more unwanted dogs. Most have been rescued from kill shelters in the Midwest, so their exact breed and age is often unknown. All dogs have been medically or emotionally rehabilitated as needed and are temperament tested to assess their fit with other dogs, cats and children.

Chicagoland Dog Rescue reserves the right to restrict adoption of a dog to potential adopters who live within a fifty (50) mile radius of Schaumburg, IL

Weekly socialization and basic obedience training is offered to all adopters FREE OF CHARGE for the lifetime of the dog, something no other group offers!  Training is crucial for happy dogs and ensures that our adopted dogs remain in their happy households forever.  A minimum of 4 training sessions is required for all adopted dogs.

Details on our training program can be found here.
